Amazon has announced a new 3rd-generation Echo Dot. The new model has a fabric outer casing and a softer rounded appearance covered in fabric that is much more attractive than the plastic Echo Dot it replaces. It’s available to pre-order for $49.99 on its own and you’ll automatically save $10 at checkout if you order two of the new Echo Dots.

The new Echo Dot keeps all of the same features as the old model, including an audio line-out jack and Bluetooth, which can be used to connect it wirelessly to Bluetooth speakers. There’s still an array of microphones for hands-free Alexa and the same array of buttons on top of the device that let you mute the mics, control volume, and call up Alexa via an action button.

Inside is a new 1.6-inch speaker that is said to be 70% louder than the previous generation Echo Dot. The outside has gotten rid of the sharp corners and features a subtle curve that carries from the side of the device through the LED light right and onto the top.

The new Echo Dot is available in three colors which include Charcol, Heather Gray, and Sandstone. Note that the two darker colors, Charcoal and Heather Gray, have a black top, while the Sandstone color has a white top. If you order two you’ll save $10, but you’ll also save $10 if you order the newly announced Amazon Smart Plug along with a new Echo Dot. The new Echo Dot will be released on October 11th.
