Amazon has added a couple new features to their Cloud Cam security camera. First spotted by AndroidPolice, the Cloud Cam app (Android | iOS) has been updated with a new option to automatically turn the camera on or off at a set schedule. Amazon’s Cloud Cam has always had the option to set the camera to automatically turn on when you leave the house and turn off when you’re home, but now owners also have the option to use a simple fixed schedule. The other change with this latest update is an increase of the camera’s digital zoom from 4x to 8x to make it easier to spot tiny or distant objects in the camera feed.
Digital zoom is pretty much useless unless the camera has a high enough resolution to record in more detail.
When watching the video on a large screen, like a PC monitor, I agree. Digital zoom is pretty useless. However, when you’re out of the house and checking in from a mobile phone, the digital zoom is invaluable.
