Alexa is coming to Windows 10 PCs from HP, Lenovo, Asus, and Acer

Amazon has teamed up with several PC manufactures to bring Alexa to Windows 10 later this year. Desktop and laptop PCs from HP, Lenovo, Asus, and Acer will work with a new Windows app that Amazon will in the Spring. The computers will access the voice assistant through far-field microphone and/or by pressing physical buttons.

Lenovo laptops, ASUS’s ZenBook and VivoBook laptops, the HP Pavilion Wave, and some of Acer’s Spin, Swift, Switch devices, as well as certain Aspire notebooks, will be among the first to provide access to Alexa. Most manufacturers will be integrating far-field microphone into their PCs in order to provide an ideal way of speaking to Alexa.

This partnership between PC manufacturers and Amazon is different from the one Amazon and Microsoft revealed late last year. That arrangement is supposed to allow Microsoft’s Cortana voice assistant access to Alexa and vice versa. Despite the two companies saying shared access would be available in 2017, they have yet to release anything.
