Alexa can now tell you when your Amazon order will arrive

Amazon’s Alexa can now tell you when your Amazon package will arrive. Simply say “Alexa, where’s my stuff?”, “Alexa, track my order”, or any number of similar phrases and Alexa will tell you when the order was placed, who placed the order, and when it is expected to arrive at your doorstep. The new feature works on all Alexa enabled devices, including the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick.

Does it tell what the order is? This could be a gift spoiler if so. I could also see this getting a lot of husbands in trouble. I know I buy way too many useless gadgets and whatnot from amazon. I can see this being a way to check up on your spouses purchasing habits :)

No, it does not tell you what was ordered. The exact response is:

“A shipment for [NAME]’s order, placed [DATE], should arrive [DATE]”

Amazon and Bluetooth conspired to ruin my marriage proposal.

I bought a fake lottery ticket from Amazon that said “Marry Me” under the last scratch-off box. I planned to give it to Curadh on Valentine’s Day. I ordered it well in advance of the date just to make sure it arrived on time.

I have my cell phone set to automatically read my emails and text messages when my car Bluetooth connects to it.

During the drive to the grocery store, Amazon decided to send me a confirmation, both by email and text message, that the “Marry Me Proposal Lottery Ticket” had shipped, and my cell phone dutifully read both of them out loud to Curadh and I.

I still gave Curadh the lottery ticket on Valentine’s day, and he said yes, but it was no surprise. We were married last May.

  3. Ujn Hunter says:

How do I turn this off? I don’t need anyone with a voice being able to access this information.

  4. Dean says:

Does it tell you when it will be available outside the USA yet?
