Still waiting for this 5.2.4.1 to hit Amazon Fire TV v2 here in the UK.
Ditto! Grrrr.
I recently got this update on Fire TV version 1 box, so the new interface along with Alexa came at the same time. I note that the double-click on the home button no longer takes you to your apps grid. Also favourites no longer exist. Those two things cause me a minor problem because I often use the Fire TV box to load Kodi and play from my NAS-based music library without switching the monitor on. Music selection is controlled from a tablet used as a remote controller.
I used to double-click the home button (to get to my apps grid). The only ‘favourite’ app was Kodi so pressing the ‘Select’ button loaded Kodi (because the single favourite Kodi app was always the app in focus). Any suggestions as to how I may load Kodi without a TV monitor switched on with the new UI?
I think I can answer my own question today. I have now moved Kodi to top left position in the Apps grid.
A long press on the home button takes me to the shortcut menu, with the apps shortcut highlighted, so press select to go to the apps grid, press select again to launch Kodi.
Well I’m happy to say the update finally arrived to my Fire TV gen 2 today.
Got it overnight for 1st generation stick. In NH, North of Boston area.
