The issues with the Shield all comes down to usage.
Its a better solution and so is Android TV in general. Fire TV does not have advanced features on Android TV such as the PiP, DVR, multi-user, support, multitasking, etc.
It just needs more users so more app developers support these advanced features that Fire does not have due to not using Android TV.
