First time listener. What a great show and the advice was excellent. I learned a lot. Also, thank you for the comparison between the new Apple TV and a possible forthcoming Fire TV. They both sound very intriguing. At some point perhaps you might address the reasons why Plex on the AFTV is so awful versus say Kodi with PleXBMC?
Thank you…philip
So glad you checked it out and enjoyed the show! I don’t really use Plex, I wouldn’t be able to answer that question. I have heard that Plex released a big Android 5.0 update, so it’s possible they’re waiting for Fire OS 5 to update the Fire TV apps.
I think the APK that is the “Photo’s App” on the FireTV is called “signed_gallery-bueller-release_601920010.apk”. I was browsing through the extracted rom image and that’s the only one that stuck out as being the correct APK.
Package Name: com.amazon.bueller.photos
Launchable Activity Name: com.amazon.bueller.photos.activity.MediaListActivity
BTW…It worked! It actually removed/hidden Photo’s completely from my device!
Awesome! If you notice any negative side effects from disabling it, I’d love to hear about it.
Okay…I made a windows batch file to simplify using aapt. I’m gonna post them here and over on XDA. They’re very simple but extremely easy and user-friendly. I hope someone else finds some use for them too.
Here’s a zip file with 4 different very useful batch files. 2 of them output to text file and the other 2 display directly in the command prompt. The aapt MUST be in the same folder as the batch file being used.
