Hello Elias, another great podcast. I appreciate your insight on the new blacklist app. I know a lot of viewers are concerned about the future of KODI. Once again I feel that KODI is unfairly targeted just because they’re the big kid on the block. You mention in your podcast that Amazon will not allow an app that will facilitate piracy, perfectly understandable. However I would like to point out(no matter what anybody else claims to the opposite) that both PLEX and now PlAYON “can” be used to accomplish the EXACT same thing. Scripts ARE available for both to view the same unwanted addons, so why does Kodi get the hate while others are left unblemished? I know your Plex viewers will hate me for this post but it is the PlEX / PLAYON “dirty little secret”. Just my thoughts, keep up the good work.
“A few updates ago, Amazon explicitly put code IN that helped Kodi. It made Kodi show up on the home screen…”
“So they explicitly put code in that would look to see if you had Kodi installed, and if you did, it added Kodi into your Home screen…”
Hey, remember when people on this site who sounded like they knew what they were talking about said that Kodi users were an insignificant number of Amazon Fire users?
Funny story…
I messed up, I sideloaded the phone version of Aptoide and not the TV version on my Non Rooted FireTv 2. Well under the phone version it allowed it to update apps. Well I went update crazy and updated the actual Amazon Appstore app, which is the Fire TV Stick version I guess because it no longer has the “Games” tab on the left side of the home screen. Was wondering if there’s a stock app for it somewhere kind of like gapps for most Android devices or if someone could do me the courtesy of sending me a back up of their stock app.
You’d probably get more and better responses in the Q&A board for FireTV at XDA, but you should be able to uninstall the newer Appstore in settings and it would replace it with the original system version.
It’s also possible that if you flashed a ROM (even the same version) it would replace the Appstore / homescreen back to system. Just do the research and know the repercussions of doing so (possibly losing root or other customizations).
Thanks, but it didn’t show me the option to uninstall the app. But I did side load “App Backup & Restore” change the file location to the SD card, backup all the apps that I wanted, then performed a full factory reset. Everything is back to normal now, after I reinstalled all the apps & games I had.
