Amazon Dash is Amazon’s effort to make ordering everyday items like cleaning supplies, pet food, and groceries easy and effortless so that you never run out of the essentials. Dash buttons, which order supplies with the push of a button, were first introduced as an invite only product in March of last year, and then made available to all Prime mmebers shortly after. You can still essentially get Dash buttons for free as long as you use them once to order the product you assign. Then, in October of last year, Amazon took the service a step further by introducing the Dash Replenishment Service which allows appliance and device manufacturers to integrate smart automatic ordering of supplies directly into their products.
Whirlpool is the first company to release an appliance with built in automatic ordering via Amazon Dash Replenishment integration. Their new smart dishwasher and top-load washer and dryer will estimate the amount of supplies they’ve used and automatically reorder the detergent or cleaning tablets from Amazon that you’ve specified, when they figure you’re about to run out. The washer and dryer will retail for $1399 each and be available later this year.
