Twitch updates their Amazon Fire TV app

Twitch has released an all new app for the Amazon Fire TV. As is starting to be the trend, the new app requires Fire OS 5 which comes pre-installed on the new Fire TV, and should begin arriving on the 1st-gen Fire TV and Fire TV Stick soon. The new app includes some much needed features missing from the old app. Most importantly, you can finally login to your twitch account within the app to see streamers you follow. Speaking of streamers, the new app has new profile pages that give you access to an account’s video library. Also included are chat updates which let you send emotes into chat from the Fire TV.

  1. Justin says:

The old app was pretty terrible. I tried watching the fire tv games channel but couldn’t get to it through all the other content and without being able to sign in or search channels.

Glad it got an update. Was funny how bad it was and how I couldn’t get to the fire tv games channel despite amazon owning twitch.

  2. Stank says:

I love the new Twitch. Being able to open and close the chat window with the “enter” button is pretty cool.

  3. Dr. Popo says:

Finally! can’t wait to try it. The old app is garbage.

  4. xnamkcor says:

Doesn’t allow chatting as far as I’ve tried. Non onscreen keyboard, and no response to my Logitech Unifying keyboard.

  5. CK says:

been using the kodi twitch addon because i can login to my twitch account and change quality settings. i hope i can adjust the quality settings with the new app version as well.
