New Apps for the Week of January 15th thru the 21st

This week there were 19 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. BlastZone 2 Lite, which is a free version of BlastZone 2 has been released this week for you to try the game before commiting to buy the full version. It’s a side scrolling space ship shooter with numerous mission campaigns, game modes, ships, and weapons. The United States Marine Corps have released an official app with videos, photos, and a live stream of events. The YouMap Dial Receiver app has been re-released this week to act as a universal app to recieve DIAL video streams from phone and tablet apps. This week there were 30 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. A new Minecraft app has been released because the Fire TV version of Minecraft has split from the mobile “Pocket” version. You should check this post to learn more. Drawful 2, the sequel to the party game included in the original Jackbox Party Pack, has arrived on Fire TV devices. This week there were 46 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. The most notable game among them is MMX Hill Climb, which is a racing game that has received millions of downloads on other platforms and has now come to the Fire TV. If you’re in the UK, you’ll want to check out DisneyLife which lets you subscribe to a whole bunch of Disney shows and movies for £4.99 per month. Those of you who want to access videos and files on your local device or local network may want to check out Archos Video and File Manager Pro. Broadcastify is an app that lets you listen to local police and fire radio communication, which is a first of its kind on the Fire TV platform. This week there were 28 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. It has been a big week for streaming video apps. DirecTV Now arrived with an all new OTT streaming service you can learn more about here. For those of you with cable subscriptions, you’ll be happy to hear that Syfy and Bravo have released their full fledged apps this week. There are also a pair of new streaming video apps from Verizon you might want to take a look at. If you have little kids, they might like the animated videos in the new Om Nom Toons app. As for games, Prison Run and Gun looks like a fun new puzzle platformer worth checking out. The best game among them is easily Ticket to Ride, which is actually currently on sale for more than half off. It’s a very popular traditional board game that has been converted into a digital game that contains single player and online multiplayer. Synimatica is a new indie film streaming platform that film lovers may enjoy. Those of you who like Indian and Bollywood films, Aleph Media has released several Indian apps, likely in preparation for the rumored Fire TV release in India. For those of you with kids, PlayJam has released a series of English and Math learning apps to help kids learn. Lastly, if you want a more detailed weather forecast than what Alexa provides, you’ll want to check out AccuWeather, which is a very popular weather app that just gained Fire TV support.
