Amazon Shopping app for the Fire TV is back in the appstore

About a month ago, Amazon’s shopping app for the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick leaked on their website. The listing was removed within a few hours, but those who added the app to their account have been able to use it ahead of its official release. The shopping app has now reappeared in the appstore, it is either being mistakenly listed again, or Amazon is ready for everyone to use it. Read more ›

New Amazon Fire TV app launches Kodi automatically on boot


A new app for the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick has been released called OnBootKodi. As the name suggests, the app does just one thing, which is to automatically launch Kodi as soon as the Fire TV finishes booting. The app can also be configured to launch Kodi once a certain amount of time has passed after the device boots, however I was unable to get that feature to work. Read more ›

Dish Network brings their Dish Anywhere app to Amazon Fire TV devices

Dish Network has just released a version of their Dish Anywhere app on the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. This app allows those subscribed to Dish’s traditional satellite TV service to stream all of the same content through the Fire TV. The app doesn’t offer any content at all for non-Dish customers, but for those who do subscribe, you can access all of your live, on demand, and DVRed content. Read more ›

New Apps for the Week of May 14th thru the 20th

This week there were 34 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. If you’re a DISH Network subscriber, you’ll be very happy to hear that the DISH Anywhere app has officially arrived on Fire TV devices. It allows you to watch live, on demand, and DVR content from the TV provider. Baseball fans will want to check out the new MLB at Bat app that just arrived. It replaces the old MLB.TV app released 2 years ago. Those of you without a cable subscription will want to check out the new THIRTEEN explore from PBS if you’re looking for something new and free to watch. German residents will definitely want to check out the 7 new apps from ProSiebenSat.1 Digital. MLB at Bat app arrives on the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick

Major League Baseball has just brought their MLB.com at Bat app to the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. The app allows baseball fans to watch the game of the day and out-of-market games if they’re subscribed to MLB.TV’s premium service. You’ll also find on-demand highlight clips, scoreboards, schedule calendars, and much more.

EPIX app arrives on the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick

The Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick lineup of streaming apps from cable networks is fairly robust these days. So much so that there aren’t too many major networks missing from the platform, so new network apps are rare these days. EPIX has been expected on the platform, after hinting at an upcoming app, and now they’ve finally arrived with an all new Fire TV app. Like so many cable network apps, the new EPIX app does require activation through a TV provider before you can view any of its content, but once activated, the app provides access to a very robust library of movies. Deep Immersion is a new free game set against a tranquil undersea backdrop that might be worth checking out. For those of you with the 2nd-gen Fire TV and a UHD television, take a look at 4KUNIVERSE, which is a new 4K streaming service that offers movies, TV shows, and live sports. Dekkoo is another new streaming service to take a look at for new content to watch. Digger Dan & the Mine of Doom is a new game with local multiplayer where you maneuver your way around underground. The Hearst company has released 4 video apps for their magazine including Esquire, Country Living, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar. Telemundo, the spanish network, has released a Deportes (sports) app with live video of soccer matches and more. If you store photos in Dropbox, you may be interested in dFolio, which allows you to easily view those photos on your Fire TV. New Apps for the Week of April 16th thru the 22nd

This week there were 36 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. Clockwork Tales: Of Glass and Ink is a newly added free version of the popular paid game that was released a few weeks ago. Digital Box Office is an intriguing app that I’ll be looking into more soon. The service offers a library of new movies completely for free and ad-free. In exchange for free access to the movies, you just have to vote and give your opinion of the movies you’ve watched through the service. There are also numerous new Indian apps, due to the launch of the Fire TV Stick in India this week. The network analyzer app myNetlyzer, which I wrote about prior, is back in the appstore with a new version.
