New Apps for the Week of January 7th thru the 13th

This week there were 21 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition televisions. Some highlights include a new PAC-MAN game called PAC-MAN Championship Edition has been released. Sokoban is a new game that might look simple and rudementary on the surface, but it’s a classic puzzle game that should keep you busy for quite a while with its 154 levels. DIRECTV NOW has released a new Beta App for those who are part of their early access program. YesPlayer appears to be a simple media player, similar to VLC, that might be worth looking into if you don’t need library management, like in Kodi. YesPlayer boasts subtitle support and a simple UI. This week there were 31 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition televisions. The developer Rendered Ideas continue to bring their popular games to Fire TV devices. This week they’ve added Jungle Adventures, Adventure Story, BMX Kid, which are all free. The Film Noir Channel is a new app from developer ON Classic Movies that offers nearly 200 classic Film Noir and Crime movies. It’s available for free for a limited time. New Apps for the Week of December 24th thru the 30th

This week there were 23 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition televisions. As you should expect fromt he last week of the year, there weren’t too many notable apps released. A streaming service called Big Star TV has released a series of genre apps for their various content. The apps have free content, but the service costs $4.99 per month if you want to access to the entire library. New Apps for the Week of December 17th thru the 23rd

This week there were 34 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition televisions. The most significant among them is easily the Firefox browser. Along with the Silk Browser, which is now available on all devices globally, you now have two very good web browsers available on the Fire TV. Stunt Extreme is a new free game from top developer Render Ideas that’s worth checking out. REELZ is a new streaming service “that is home to factual entertainment.” The service costs $3.99 per month and has a 7-day free trial. Firefox web browser officially released for the Amazon Fire TV

Firefox has officially released their web browser for all Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition televisions. The new app comes just a few weeks after Amazon released their Silk web browser for the Fire TV. Amazon has published a press release for the app’s arrival, so it seems like they worked with Firefox to bring the app to the Fire TV. Read more ›

New Apps for the Week of December 10th thru the 16th

This week there were 58 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition televisions. The Little Acre is a unique indie adventure game that has received postivie reviews on PC and has now been ported to mobile platforms. Adventures Story 2 is another game that has revieced success on other platforms and has now come to the Fire TV this week. It has over a million downloads on other devices with a 4+ star reviews. Moving on to entertainment apps, we’ve got the release of AirTV this week that lets you watch local prodcast channels from their new network OTA tuner. Speaking of local channels, Scripps Media has released 21 local news apps this week for their various channels accross the US. Many of them offer free live streams. For the kids, we’ve got the arrival of a new LEGO TV app with a large collection of free videos featureing their various toys and characters. New Amazon Fire TV app can place the Time and/or Network Activity in the upper screen corners

A new handy app called Time and Net Speed Overlay has just been released for all Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition televisions. The app allows you to the current time to the top right corner of your Fire TV screen and it also allows you to add the current network activity speed in the upper left corner. You can select which of the two capabilities you’d like to be visible or you can have both visible. The network activity is a numeric value of the live network speed being used by the Fire TV. It’s the same information you can find in the hidden developer menu on the Fire TV, but it’s displayed in a much more discrete way. Read more ›

New Apps for the Week of December 3rd thru the 9th

This week there were 34 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. The Escapists is an already popular game that is worth checking out now that it is available on the Fire TV. Vostok Inc. is another interesting new game that is said to take up a lot of your time. Fox Business has released an app this week with a live stream for those who can activate it with a TV subscription and it has some free content for those who can’t activate the app. If you haven’t heard about my new Bookmarker apps that I released this week, you can read about them here, but essentially they let you launch directly into a webstie in the Silk Browser right from the Fire TV home screen. Vostok Inc. is a new space shooter clicker game for the Amazon Fire TV


Vostok Inc. is an interesting new multi-layer game that has just arrived on all Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition television devices. As the newly appointed CEO of Vostok Inc, your goal is to become filthy rich. You do so by rasing money by blasting enemies and asteroids in your space ship and then use those funds to mine, terraform, and colonise planets. At its core it is a “clicker” game but adds a layer of twin-stick space shooting to the mix. The game requires a game controller to play but runs on all Fire TV devices.

FOX Business Network app comes to the Amazon Fire TV

FOX has released their FOX Business app for all Amazon Fire TVs, Fire TV Sticks, and Fire TV Edition televisions. The app has a live 24/7 stream of the FOX Business network as well as on-demand episodes of the stations various shows. You will need to activate the app with a television subscription provider in order to unlock all the content, however, there is some free content that does not require activation. The app description also says that it will provide “free live streaming coverage of major news events,” so this might be a good resource for live news even if you don’t have a subscription with a TV provider.
