New Fire TV apps of the week — Sep 30 – Oct 6

This week there were 32 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition televisions. CAND.IO is a simple but fun new game for Fire TV devices. Those of you familiar with the popular Agar.io game will feel right at home with the similar concept of gobbling up candies to make your character larger until you’re large enough to gobble up other players. Those of you who prefer games where you’re not in constant fear of being eaten can’t go wrong with TV Chess, which, you guessed it, is simply Chess …on your TV. The entertainment app Kanopy has brought their collection of over 30,000 movies and documentaries to Fire TV devices this week. All you need to access the content is membership with a partnered public library. If you’re someone who likes to leave their TV on all the time, you should definitely check out the new Mango Display app. it lets you turn your TV into a dashboard that shows customized information like weather, news headlines, calendar events, notes, reminders, and much more. New Fire TV apps of the week — Sep 9–15

This week there were 26 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition televisions. Fans of the british comedy series might be interested in the Wallace & Gromit’s Blast Off game that was released this week. Wonder Science is a new app with a library of free science videos that serve double duty as being educational and a nice backdrop to play on your TV during a party or for ambiance. FITE is a new app with free and pay-per-view combat sports which include MMA, wrestling and boxing. While not cheep at $9.99, No Sleep Webpage TV is an interesting new app that displays any URL on your TV and will automatically refresh the page at a set interval that you configure. If there’s something online that you’d like to keep track of throughout the day, this app might help out. Just be carefull of screen burn-in. The Roku Channel comes to the Amazon Fire TV …sort of

About a year ago, Roku launched The Roku Channel, which is an ad-support collection of movies, TV shows, and live news that is available for free on Roku devices. The channel has been quite popular, so Roku made it available on the web a month ago. In doing so, they’ve inadvertently also made it available to all Amazon Fire TV devices thanks to the Silk Browser. The web interface for The Roku Channel works so well through the Silk Browser that I’ve released a Bookmarker app for The Roku Channel, to make accessing it through Fire TV devices that much easier. New Fire TV apps of the week — Aug 26 – Sep 1

This week there were 37 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition televisions. Live TV platform MobiTV has been releasing several streaming TV apps over the past few weeks for smaller cable TV providers across the US, including three new apps this week. If you’re in an area serviced by Citizen Fiber, Fidelity TV, Pioneer Communications, Metro Net, GBT, USA Communications, or OptiLink, take a look at their apps. Spanish-British animated series Pocoyo has brought their pre-school kids content to the Fire TV this week. App developer Vishnu N K is continuing their release of interesting Fire TV utilities with Taotlus, an app launcher that lets you view your apps in a condensed grid, and Teave, which is an app that lists a lot of info about hte apps you have installed, such as what permissions the apps request. Blocko is a great minimalistic puzzle game that you can quickly play when you need to kill a few minutes. It has 90 levels and is free. The American Kennel Club has brought AKC.TV to the Fire TV this week with on-demand dog show, dog training, and puppy videos. Those of you with young kids might want to check out Prodigies Music Lessons which has hundreds of music lessons for kids ages 2-12. This week there were 23 new apps and games released for the Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition televisions. Channels DVR is a new free version of the Channels app. If you have an HDHomeRun network tuner, you can try the Channels app for free by signing up for their DVR service free trial. The WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup begins on August 22 and a new dedicated app has arrived just in time to let you watch the games live.
