The Eufy Genie is on sale for $29.70 on Amazon. Included with the purchase is 3 months of Amazon Music Unlimited for new subscribers. The Eufy Genie is the Echo Dot clone made by Anker that I reviewed a couple of weeks ago. While the list price may say $59.99, this smart speaker normally sells for $34.99 so the current price is just over 15% off, if you don’t include the free music service. My opinion of the Eufy Genie is that it is great as a stand-alone alternative to the Amazon Echo Dot, but because it does not support Amazon’s more advanced Alexa features, like ESP and calling, it’s not a good addition to a home that already has Echo devices.
Anker is a company best known for their highly reviewed portable powerbanks and charging cables but they’ve been expanding into numerous other consumer electronics lately. They launched Eufy, a smart home brand, late last year with products like a robotic vacuum and a smart scale. Now they’ve released the Eufy Genie, an Alexa powered smart speaker that closely resembles the Amazon Echo Dot in both form and function. At $34.99, the Genie undercuts the Echo Dot by $15 and claims to have a better speaker, so I picked one up to see if it’s a good budget alternative to Amazon’s own smart speaker. Read more ›
