The Eufy Genie has just gone on sale for a great price. Before posting about the deal, I dusted mine off to see if the one major complaint I had about it, when I reviewed it, had been addressed. Sure enough, the Eufy Genie now supports Echo Spatial Perception. Read more ›
The Eufy Genie has just gon on sale for $19.99 for today only. This is the new lowest price that this smart speaker has ever been. You can read my review of the Eufy Genie, but it’s essentially an Amazon Echo Dot clone with nearly all of the same capabilities. My one and only major complaint of the Eufy Genie was that it did not have Echo Spacial Perception (ESP) but I have just discovered that it now does support ESP, so it works well with other Echo devices nearby. The only real issue with the Genie, compared to the Dot, is it doesn’t have access to some of the advanced Alexa features, like calling and messaging. Other than the lower cost, the main advantage of the Eufy Genie over the Echo Dot is that the Genie has a slightly better sounding speaker than the Dot. While I would still recommend the Echo Dot over the Eufy Genie for most people, it’s hard to resist at this price, especially if you’re fine with not having calling capabilities.
Three years ago today, Amazon introduced Alexa to the world when they revealed the original Echo speaker. To celebrate, they’re offering discounts on numerous Alexa devices. The Amazon Tap is $50 off at $79.99, which matches the lowest price it has been. You can save $33 on a 3 pack of Echo Dots by using promo code BDAY3PACK at checkout. Normally, Amazon only gives $20 off of a 3 pack. You can save $50 on a 3 pack of 2nd-gen Echos using promo code ECHO3PACK, but that’s the usual discount that has been around ever since the new model was revealed. Other bundle deals include the all-new Fire HD 10 tablet + Echo Dot for $149.98, which saves you $50, the Fire TV Stick + Echo Dot for $69.98, which saves you $20, and the all-new Cloud Cam + Echo Show for $299.98, which saves you $50. The Eufy Genie is on sale for $29.70 on Amazon. Included with the purchase is 3 months of Amazon Music Unlimited for new subscribers. The Eufy Genie is the Echo Dot clone made by Anker that I reviewed a couple of weeks ago. While the list price may say $59.99, this smart speaker normally sells for $34.99 so the current price is just over 15% off, if you don’t include the free music service. My opinion of the Eufy Genie is that it is great as a stand-alone alternative to the Amazon Echo Dot, but because it does not support Amazon’s more advanced Alexa features, like ESP and calling, it’s not a good addition to a home that already has Echo devices.
Anker is a company best known for their highly reviewed portable powerbanks and charging cables but they’ve been expanding into numerous other consumer electronics lately. They launched Eufy, a smart home brand, late last year with products like a robotic vacuum and a smart scale. Now they’ve released the Eufy Genie, an Alexa powered smart speaker that closely resembles the Amazon Echo Dot in both form and function. At $34.99, the Genie undercuts the Echo Dot by $15 and claims to have a better speaker, so I picked one up to see if it’s a good budget alternative to Amazon’s own smart speaker. Read more ›

Anker, best known for their USB chargers and battery packs, has been expanding their product line into home goods under their new Eufy brand. Those products have mostly been vacuums and lights, but they’ve now announced the Eufy Genie, which is an Alexa smart speaker that closely resembles the Amazon Echo Dot in both appearance and features. With a retail price of only $34.99, the Genie undercuts the Echo Dot by $15 and has the potential for being a good alternative to Amazon’s own hardware. Read more ›
