Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, the critically acclaimed Wii U and Nintendo 3DS game, has made its Android debut on the Amazon Fire TV. This side scrolling platformer is reminiscent of classic Metroid games that have you battle your way through worlds to find and gather items required to battle the big bad boss at the end. The price is sure to scare many away. At $19.99, it’s now the most expensive singular game, next to Jackbox’s Party Pack, on the Fire TV. Just because a game is released on a “mobile” platform, that doesn’t mean it isn’t deserving of the same price it sells for on other platforms. In a world of $0.99 casual games that often only manage to grab one’s attention for mere minutes at a time, it’s nice to see a “real” game make its way to the Fire TV with dozens of hours of gameplay in tow. Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is compatible with both 1st and 2nd-gen Fire TVs and requires a game controller to play.
