Plex News adds aggregated news clips to the popular media player app

Plex now offers local and national on-demand news videos directly within their app for free to all customers. The media player maker acquired Watchup earlier this year to promised to integrate it’s stand-alone newscast aggregator capabilities into Plex.

Plex News, like the Watchup app before it, uses a machine learning-powered system to select videos from about 200 partnered news organizations, which includes national stations like CNN, CBS and Al Jazeera, to provide content tailored to each user. You can manually customize what is show, or let the algorithm decide what you might be interested in based on your viewing history.

The news video service is free to all Plex users and it does not require a Plex Pass subscription, however, it will be made available to Plex Pass users first, so you might not have access to it yet. It’s available on all Fire Tv, Fire TV Stick, and Fire Tv Edition models, as well as Android TV, Apple TV, Roku, Android Mobile, and iOS devices.

For some reason it automatically starts playing the first item in the feed which is sort of annoying. Wish it was just a page that let me click on what I want to watch.
