NVIDIA Shield TV w/ Controller & Remote on sale for $179.99

Between now and December 19th, the NVIDIA Shield TV with Remote and Game controller will be on sale for $179.99. That’s $70 off its regular price, since the remote is normally sold separately for $50 and the box with game controller alone is normally sold for $199.99. The lowest the NVIDIA shield has ever been was $149.99 for one day on Cyber Monday. Compared to the Fire TV Gaming Edition, which is currently on sale for the first time for $114.99, the Shield has a more powerful processor and is tailored for console level gaming. It also has the added advantage of officially supporting Kodi, which can be installed directly from the Google Play Store. If you’re looking for a gaming focused streaming box built off of Android, you can’t go wrong with either device.

Still a good deal for an awesome streamer. It is a must for anyone who enjoys kodi, has an HDHomerun, plays games or has a 4K tv. Private listening is cool. If it had Amazon Prime video, it would be perfect!

Having now used Shield TV, FTV gen 1 & 2, and ATV4… Shield is the clear winner overall (home theater, 4K, Kodi, apps, games).

There are a few things I like on FTV (namely Prime video & some games not on Google Play) and on ATV4 (couple apps/games, better AirPlay obviously), but Shield TV is the way to go.

Don’t forget to mention that the Shield allows you to unlock the boot loader. Also rooting the shield is aswell “easy as pie” out of the box.

      PS- I don’t have a Shield TV!

I still wish we had an aftvnews.com for shieldTV / android TV as well. I’ve got a first gen Fire TV in the bedroom, and Ouya in the den, and a Shield TV (recently replacing my other Ouya) in the living room… The Shield TV is definitely my favorite. Fastest, true android TV, bootloader unlockable/rootable, official Play Store support, Kodi support, etc. LOVE that box. Happy enough with my other devices (which are basically Kodi boxes). Do wish Shield supported Prime Video.

I second the shieldtvnews.com thought. I like NVidiashieldzone.com but this website has fantastic tutorials and is always on top of everything related to the point where I check it about everyday just to see the “news.”
