Amazon currently has the Arlo 5 Camera Security System on sale for $399.99, which is the new lowest price this kit has ever been. While the Amazon page may say this discount is $230 off the retail price, the regular price of this camera kit is usually around $550, so this sale is really saving you about $150. These are among the top cameras I recommend for Amazon device owners because Arlo was a launch partner with Amazon when they added security camera support to Alexa. Currently, you can view a live feed of these cameras through the Echo Show, but support for viewing the feed on any Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition television is coming very soon. You will also be able to listen to a live audio feed from these cameras through any Echo or Echo Dot soon as well.
I’m a big fan of Arlo cameras and have been using them in my home even before they partnered with Amazon to be the first cameras with Alexa integration. The big killer feature, which is why I personally bought them, is that these cameras are truly wireless. They connect to the included base station via WiFi and are battery powered so you can place them anywhere and easily move them around when your monitoring needs change. For example, when a new hole appeared in my backyard overnight, I was easily able to pop a camera off of its magnetic mount and place it in a bush to learn that a possum had moved in.
It’s important to note that the cameras on sale are the non-pro versions that use non-rechargeable batteries. The batteries cost around $1-$2 each and last between 1 to 6 months, depending on how often the cameras record video. The Arlo Pro cameras, which are the ones I have, include rechargeable batteries.
