Logitech Harmony Smart Remote w/ Hub on sale for $89.99, down from $130

The Logitech Harmony Smart Hub & Remote has just gone on sale for $89.99 on Amazon. Apart from a one day sale in December, this is the lowest price this remote has ever been. This remote is one of the few universal remotes capable of controlling the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. It comes with a bluetooth capable hub that translates the remote’s RF signals into bluetooth. This lets it control many different devices including Fire TVs, Fire TV Sticks, Rokus, Apple TVs, Xboxs, Playstations, and even PCs. Logitech calls this remote “future-proof” because they regularly update its software to support new devices, and I believe them because they were quick to add Fire TV support within 2 months of it being released.

This is a great companion to the Fire TV/stick. It does a great job of consolidating control of all your devices. Updating macros/key assignments is easily with the mobile app or desktop app. Glad to see the price drop.

  2. ReDDeMiSe says:

Well that sucks it went full retail.

  3. Leonardo says:

Great remote! Bought it last week, works perfectly with the Fire TV running XMBC after minor adjustments.

    • ReDDeMiSe says:

You can actually program the remote to open xbmc as a shortcut?

      • Leonardo says:

Without root for sure not. Maybe with root but I don’t know.

        • HeffeD says:

You can open apps by using a sequence (macro) to open the search function and type out the name of the app.

It’s a bit of a roundabout way for sure, but it’s the only reliable way to automatically open apps. It would be nice if the app library section didn’t re-order the apps based on how recently they were used…

I hope in the future, Amazon adds more controllability to the Fire TV.
