Logitech Harmony Smart Remote w/ Hub on sale for $69.99 [Expired]

This sale comes around fairly often now, but it seems there’s always someone who appreciates me posting about it, so here it goes again. The Logitech Harmony Remote w/ Smart Hub is back on sale on Amazon for $69.99. This matches the lowest price this remote has ever been. Harmony remotes are among the few universal remotes that can control the Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition televisions. The included hub (which yes I assure you is included) connects to the Fire TV via Bluetooth and the remote relays button presses through the included hub to the Fire TV. The remote connects via RF, so you still don’t have to physically point the remote anywhere, just like with the Fire TV default remote. Additionally, Harmony has recently updated their Alexa skill to allow for more natural control of your entertainment devices using your voice.

How does Harmony’s Alexa skill compare to Alexa’s native abilility to control FireTV devices? Does one work better than the other? Does one have a feature you use more often than the other?

With Alexa’s new native abilities to control the Fire TV, you really don’t need the Harmony Alexa Skill for Fire TV control anymore. What you do still need it for is to control you TV and other AV equipment. Unless you have a Fire TV Edition TV or one of the other few connected TVs that have added Alexa support, you need the Harmony hub and Harmony Alexa Skill to turn things on and off, change inputs, adjust volume, change channels,e tc.. with your voice. So the two work well together to give you voice control of your entire setup.

ive been looking at getting one of these, but i cant ever seem to find a definitive answer to whether or not the remote supports motion-controlled devices like LG smart tvs from the last few years. yes, its POSSIBLE to use those sets without the motion control, but the webos interface was clearly designed with motion control in mind, and its not a great experience navigating without it.

i suspect the answer is ‘no’ and i doubt theres any universal remote that has motion control, but as i said, ive never been able to find a definitive answer. does anyone use one of these to control a LG webos set?
