Get a Fire TV for $59 if you Sign Up for Amazon Prime

Amazon is running a new promotion that knocks $40 off the price of a Fire TV if you buy it along with a new Prime Membership. Amazon has been piling on Prime benefits this year with the addition of Prime Music, which grants free access to over 1 million songs, and Prime Photos, which grants free unlimited cloud photo storage. Those new additions on top of the previous benefits of free two-day shipping and Prime Instant Video make it the best time ever to join Amazon Prime.

To take advantage of the offer, just check the “Add Amazon Prime” box below the “Add to Cart” button on the Fire TV product page. If you already own a Fire TV and don’t need a second one, the $40 discount is also available on Fire HD 6, Fire HD 7 (which is already $20 off right now), Fire HDX tablets, and all Kindle E-Readers. The offer ends Nov. 26th and is not available to current Prime members wanting to renew.

Is it true that the boxes shipped by Amazon are guaranteed to be un-rootable at this moment?

Any store selling boxes with a rootable version of the firmware?

I don’t know if Amazon is still shipping rootable Fire TVs. Best Buy and Staples both sell Fire TVs and most of their stock is still rootable. I was at a Best Buy yesterday researching when Fire TV Sticks would become available and I took this picture:

I would guess that most of those are rootable.

I’m not sure if you know or not but Bestbuy is having the FireTV sticks for $24.99 starting November 23-29th. I bought two today at full price and plan on getting a price adjustment.
