An Amazon Fire TV software update, expected to arrive early next year, should bring full featured integration of Amazon’s new video subscription add-on service. While we wait for that update to arrive, Amazon is doing what they can with what they’ve got to make finding videos in your subscriptions as easy as possible. All videos in the various subscriptions can be watched on the Fire TV, but browsing the selection is difficult without a dedicated subscription section on the device. To help with that, Amazon has started including rows in the Fire TV’s “Movies” and “TV” sections that highlight content from the bundles you’ve subscribed to. Since I am subscribed to the Showtime bundle, I am seeing new “Showtime Popular Movies” and “Showtime Comedy Specials” sections in my Fire TV’s Movies section. In the TV section, I have new “Showtime TV Series” and “Showtime Comedy Series” lists to use to find content. If you’re holding out for better integration with the Fire TV before trying out the new add-on subscriptions, it’s not necessary. These new movie and TV show curated lists, along with the main one on the home screen, make it pretty easy to take full advantage of a subscription on the Fire TV.
