Amazon will begin collecting sales tax nationwide starting April 1st

Amazon has been in a regulatory fight over sales tax for a long time. The last remaining states where Amazon does not collect sales tax will fall on April 1st, according to a report from CNBC. Starting next month, Amazon will begin collecting sales tax for orders in Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, and New Mexico, which means they’ll be collecting tax in all 45 states that require it. Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon do not have a state sales tax, so orders from residents of those states will of course remain tax free.

      Gator,

My state has sales tax from amazon… it is not as bad as you think. If it sold from amazon there is sales tax.

If the item is sold from an independent seller there still is not sales tax.

If the item is sold from an independent seller and they have the item shipped to amazon for storage and shipping (prime eligible) there is no tax

I end up pay tax on items like 65% of the time. Not as good as no tax but is is something

Blame your state not Amazon. Amazon did what they could to avoid long enough.
