10/24 1:15pm Turns out the email updating delivery of the Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote to October 28th was a mistake sent by Amazon’s automated system. All new Fire TV Stick bundles are still scheduled to arrive on November 13th.
The new bundle, which combines the existing Fire TV Stick with a new voice remote, was supposed to be released yesterday, but customers who preordered the new bundle received emails, along with a $10 apology credit, informing them that their device would not arrive until November 13th. Today, some of those customers, including myself, have received a second email updating their estimated delivery date to October 28th. The delivery estimate on the bundle’s product page still shows an in stock date of November 13th for new orders.
If Amazon delayed orders to give themselves more time to fix Fire OS 5 software issues, this could mean that the bug fixing effort is ahead of schedule. Moving the new Fire TV Stick voice bundle delivery closer could mean the software update to Fire OS 5 for existing Fire TV devices is just around the corner. The Fire TV Stick with a voice remote is expected to arrive with Fire OS 5 preinstalled, so once it’s in customer’s hands, it shouldn’t be long before all Fire TV Sticks get updated to Fire OS 5.
