Amazon pays $10 million for Sundance’s best reviewed film ‘Manchester by the Sea’

Amazon is continuing to acquire movies at the ongoing Sundance Film Festival with a reported $10 million dollar deal for the domestic rights to Manchester by the Sea, the Kenneth Lonergan-directed drama staring Casey Affleck. The film is so far the best reviewed film of this years film festival. Amazon already picked up the rights to Complete Unknown earlier this week before Sundance kicked off. The rights to Manchester by the Sea brings Amazon’s film tally up to four, putting them well on their way to their goal of 12 film releases this year. Once these movies make their theatrical debuts, they should make their way into Amazon’s Prime video library two short months later.
