Amazon original kids series ‘Thunderbirds Are Go’ to debut April 22 on Prime Video

Amazon has announced Thunderbirds Are Go, their remake of the classic 1960s Thunderbirds TV series, will be available April 22nd. Preceding the release, there will be a sneak preview on April 15 with the one-hour special Ring of Fire Parts 1 and 2. Much like the original series, this reinvention will be made using a unique mixture of CGI animation and live-action model sets. Amazon currently has the rights to four 13-episode seasons.

Made by ITV (A national and international UK Television Broadcaster), same bunch who gave you Downton Abbey so its not an Amazon Original, I’m afraid.

It’s already been broadcast in the UK last year and as the original series, isn’t entirely aimed at children, much like Dr Who / Star Wars Clone Wars and Rebels in that regard.

I’ve noticed that Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix often take shows that air in other countries and call them “_____ Originals” when they put them on their services in the US.

Ah.a trend..Never understood why “Make it our own” seems to be common thread across the pond not withstanding the ever present theme of being divided by a common language. I can understand it if it was a very British show, but the Tracey Family are entirely US Characters….hey ho.

I will play the U571 Movie card, Cough B*LL*X! :)

I can understand referring to a series like The Mindy Project as “a Hulu original” because it moved there and became the source for new episodes. However, with other series or movies, I think that “a Hulu exclusive” would be more appropriate (assuming they are not on other services lol).

Have already seen it. Not bad, but no where as good as the original.
