Amazon Echo Beta SDK Announced

Amazon’s voice controlled Echo speaker and personal assistant can only do a handful of things right now. Amazon has been slowly expanding it’s capabilities, but it’s about to be ramped up. Amazon is now taking sign-ups for a beta software developer kit (SDK) that will “enable developers, content creators, and service providers to build apps and experiences for Amazon Echo.” Amazon is asking developers which programming languages they prefer, which to me indicates the SDK is very young so we likely wont be seeing third-party apps on the Echo for a while.

Interesting, if you have Prime, the Echo is only $99 currently.

It’s about time. I’ve had one for over a month now and I’m completely underwhelmed with it’s capabilities.

    Things to try:

Alexa buy everything that Amazon has on sale. “No problem”
Alexa play music from my home network “I didn’t understand that command”
Alexa do something other than be an Amazon marketing too… “I didn’t understand that command”
    Alexa … “I didn’t understand that command”
    Alexa … “I didn’t understand that command”
    Alexa … “I didn’t understand that command”
