Amazon Echo app released to Google Play Store

With the Fire TV Remote app still in hiding, Amazon has just released the companion app to their newest hardware offering, Amazon Echo, a speaker that doubles as a digital assistant. The app appears to give weather forecasts, control music playing on the Amazon Echo, and allow viewing and editing of your Echo created shopping lists. Most interesting is the apps mention of a physical remote. This is the first we’re hearing about an included physical remote, as the Amazon Echo promo video and product page make no reference to a remote control for the device.

Update

John in the comments points out that the very bottom of the product page does mention a remote.

The very bottom of the product page, below the picture of the power adapter, it does mention the remote with built-in microphone and music playback control. Not very obvious and I probably never would have noticed it if it wasn’t mentioned here.

I wonder if they added the text about the remote since I dont remember seeing it there either.

Invites are going out to buy these. Someone who ordered one said their delivery estimate was this thursday.
