Amazon has bought U.S. rights to the movie Complete Unknown in a pre-Sundance Film Festival deal. The drama directed by Joshua Marston staring Rachel Weisz and Michael Shannon is set to preier at Sundance on January 25. It’s unclear when the movie will make its way to Prime members, but if history is any indication, it’ll be 2 months after its world theatrical release. This purchase is part of Amazon’s new move into film production with a goal to release 12 films a year. Their first movie Chi-Raq is in theaters now and will make its Prime video debut on February 4th. Amazon already has their second movie Paterson lined up, but it looks like Complete Unknown may beat it out the door.
