Amazon adds Star Ratings and Reviews to Alexa Skills

Users of the Amazon Echo and Fire TV can now rate and review Alexa Skills to help customers determine which add-on abilities for Amazon’s voice assistant are worth their time. Alexa Skills are like “apps” created by third-party developers that expand Alexa’s functionality beyond what Amazon has built-in themselves. When Amazon first announced the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) a few short months ago, it didn’t take long for Alexa to gain a dozen new abilities. Now there are 91 total Alexa Skills, with new ones being added weekly, so it’s great to see the skills interface expanded beyond just a simple alphabetical list. Head on over to the Alexa web portal or Alexa app to see and leave Alexa Skill ratings and reviews. Also, let me know in the comments if an Alexa Skills Appstore, with categories and a sorting ability, that organises the list of Alexa Skills better is something you’d use and would want me to create.

I’d love to see something like this, particularly if you can focus on a particular category or activity (like, say, Movies on Fire)

  2. Shawn says:

The lack of a true “Store” is the main reason I don;t bother with alexa skills. Just being able to sort by something other than alphabetical would be great. I’ll definitely use your skills appstore if you make it.
