Alexa can now update you on all of your sports teams at once

Alexa, on both audio devices like the Amazon Echo and Tap, as well as on the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, can now tell you about the latest games and scores for all of your favorite sports teams at once. In the Alexa app and web portal is a new section called “Sports Update” under the settings area. There you can add all the sports teams you care about. Once setup, you can say “give me my sports update” or “how are my teams” to hear about each team’s latest game and score back-to-back. The information given is equivalent to asking about each team individually, but the one request triggers the entire team list at once.

Looks like Alexa voice functionality is maturing very well. Search results for more apps, video playback search, and sports scores are becoming more standard within the cunsumer electronics industry. Amazon’s role to become more than a store is beginning to payoff. Alexa enabled devices plus auto has made them a competitive with Google and Apple services. We will see more companies work with Amazon’s Alexa services released at CEDIA this year at Dallas. Competition creates in innovation.
